Brian Gable

Born and raised in Del Mar (CA), Brian Gable grew up surfing local beach breaks, Blacks, and following family footsteps down Sunset Cliffs in San Diego County. Trained in fine arts, he also holds a degree in information systems at James Madison University of Virginia.

Following graduation, Gable pursued a career in systems consulting and computing technologies for several large enterprises. After moving the fam to Orange County, CA in 2004, he immersed himself back into the local line-ups, restoring a connection with his SoCal surfing roots. From there, it was natural to apply both art and technology concepts directly to surfing and surfboard design.

In 2008, in the lower depths of the Orange curtain, Gable found solace in the underground board-making industry of San Clemente, CA. This unique and raw-natured aspect of a dedicated crew of shapers, glassers, artists, writers, entrepreneurs, and hard-core surfers here provides the foundation and inspiration of Gable Surfboards.

For those who pay attention to such atrocities, your shaper is also known in the surfing world for winning Surfing Magazine's Google Earth Challenge 2, where he prompted the discovery of the now infamous African point, Skeleton Bay. Along him were editor, Evan Slater, photographer DJ Struntz, and pro surfers Cory Lopez, Pete Mendia, Hank Gaskell, and Mitch Coleborn. Read the story here: Feeling Lucky.

Brian Gable is dedicated to visual arts and top quality surfboard design and manufacturing. He personally executes and/or oversees each and every phase - from design to form to delivery - for all customers.
